Upskill Your Workforce with Affordable, Online Professional Development Training this Winter and Spring

Professional Development Workshops Include: Microsoft Excel, Visual Communication, Budget Management, and Principles of Marketing.

To keep your workforce strong and nimble, continuous learning is essential. By 2022, 54% of all employees will require significant upskilling, according to a report published by the World Economic Forum. To help employers get ahead of this trend, Granite State College is proud to offer a series of workshops to help address skills gaps within your organization.

Offered 100% online, Granite State College will offer a series of self-paced workshops this Winter and Spring focused on the following topics:

Each series is comprised of two affordable sessions (basic and intermediate). The Excel courses will require just 15-20 hours per course, over 6 weeks. The Visual Communications, Budget Management, and Principles of Marketing courses will require just 25-40 hours per course, over 6 weeks.

Participants will be able to learn at their own pace and will have access to:

  • Free course materials (software, textbooks, and other learning aids)
  • A dedicated instructor who will provide supportive feedback
  • Optional drop-in sessions via Zoom.

Upon completion of a course, participants will be awarded a digital badge to display on LinkedIn, a resume, or other related materials.

Degree-seeking students at Granite State College who successfully complete both Basics and Intermediate sessions will qualify for undergraduate credits from Granite State College. Normal credit evaluation procedures will apply. Financial aid is not available.


Microsoft Excel (online course) – $99

Dates: January 3 – February 11 (Basics) and February 14 – March 25 (Intermediate)
Cost: $99 per course ($198 for both Basics and Intermediate courses)
Total Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per course
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Excel Basics is required prior to enrolling in Excel Intermediate.

Budget Management (online course) – $199

Dates: January 3 – February 11, 2022 (Basics) and February 14 – March 25, 2022 (Intermediate)
Cost: $199 per course ($398 for both Basics and Intermediate courses)
Total Time Commitment: 25-40 hours per course
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Budget Management Basics is required prior to enrolling in Budget Management Intermediate.

This course is designed to provide budgeting skills to managers, enabling them to help in the decision-making process related to the financial health of their organizations. Participants will learn how to:

  • Explain the role and principles of budgeting
  • Design organizational and programmatic budgets
  • Create a budget utilizing various budgeting tools and techniques
  • Analyze financial and accounting statements
  • Illustrate the interdependence of business functions in accounting and finance

Visual Communication (online course) – $199

Dates: April 4 – May 13 (Basics) and May 16 – June 24 (Intermediate)
Cost: $199 per course ($398 for both Basics and Intermediate courses)
Total Time Commitment: 25-40 hours per course
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Visual Communication Basics is required prior to enrolling in Visual Communication Intermediate.

This course explores how images and visual media are used to deliver and enhance messages. Topics covered include:

  • Identifying how images communicate data, information, concepts, and arguments
  • Locating sources and using retrieval systems for images and visual media
  • Intellectual property, copyright, and fair use of images
  • Producing visual media for a defined target audience and purpose

Principles of Marketing (online course) – $199

Dates: April 4 – May 13 (Basics) and May 16 – June 24 (Intermediate)
Cost: $199 per course ($398 for both Basics and Intermediate courses)
Total Time Commitment: 25-40 hours per course
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Principles of Marketing Basics is required prior to enrolling in Principles of Marketing Intermediate.

Individuals who complete this course will be able to guide their organizations in developing effective marketing strategies and engaging content for target audiences. Participants will learn how to:

  • Explain the role and foundational concepts of marketing.
  • Design marketing campaigns and understand how to differentiate products and services.
  • Understand methods of market research and how they are used to identify opportunities.
  • Analyze ethics, consumerism, and social responsibility and their effects on marketing strategies.
