Instructional Strategies for Teachers Workshop
August 14 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
This two hour professional development offering will provide educators with an opportunity to learn more about teaching techniques that keep students engaged and learning each day. Educators will discover strategies from books like The First-Year Teacher’s Survival Guide by Julia Thompson, Teach Like a Champion by Doug Lemov, and The First Days of School by Harry and Rosemary Wong with the guided instruction of Nicole Monmaney, Field Placement Faculty member at Granite State College. A few of the techniques that will be explored are keeping students engaged, differentiating instruction, using Bloom’s Taxonomy to create opportunities for higher-order thinking, and creating a comfortable classrooms so students feel safe when they take risks. Many of the approaches discussed will directly align with the Lesson Observation Feedback Tool used by Granite State College. Presented by Nicole Monmaney.
