Health Update: Preparing for Return to Campus

COVID-19 Action Plan & Impact for Face-to-face Classes and Meetings (3/13/2020)

Though we have no knowledge of any cases of illness or exposure within the Granite State College community, we are taking preventative measures during these key early days to help ensure the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, partners, and the greater community.

Starting March 18, our campus teams are working remotely. Advising, financial aid, tutoring, and all other services are available online, by phone, or email. Access to campus is limited to staff to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. Visit our Contact Us page for details; we’re available during our regular business hours for support: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (ET).

Face-to-face and hybrid courses, public events, and meetings are curtailed through April 15. All other public events and on-campus meetings are curtailed through April 30.

We’ve made the following plans to transition the majority of this activity online as follows. Decisions about the future outlook of these plans will be reassessed on April 15.

All 2020 Winter Term courses will transition to online, effective Tuesday (3/17). To ease this transition, the following support and resources are available:

  • Students: We are offering orientation sessions to acquaint students who would like to build confidence with online learning
  • Faculty: Academic Center Directors, Program Directors, the Instructional Design Team, and Faculty Mentors are available to transition course delivery online.

This will not impact students using VA Education Benefits, including housing allowances. Please read the additional advisory for details.

Students who are scheduled for clinical courses may be advised about non-clinical alternatives if appropriate. Students experiencing site closures should contact their advisors for support in maximizing their schedules.

All 2020 Spring Term courses will be delivered online during the first two weeks of the term (April 6 – April 17, 2020). A decision will be made on April 15 about whether these courses will shift back to F2F and Hybrid (as intended) or will continue as purely online. This is within the window when students can still withdraw without penalty if they choose to do that.

All OLLI programming is paused until April 30, 2020. This decision was made in partnership between OLLI volunteers and Granite State College leadership. We will continue to monitor the situation and on April 15, the determination will be made regarding whether or not in-person, face-to-face programming can resume after April 30.

A decision regarding face-to-face CWEP courses is forthcoming.

Our campus locations will be open for normal operating hours; however, we are encouraging social distancing strategies to limit face-to-face interactions for the sake of the health and well-being of our community. The following advising and support services are available 100% online:

Staff members working from our locations have been advised to minimize face-to-face contact when possible, leverage technology to conduct everyday business, and take extra precautions while traveling.

Public events and meetings are curtailed through April 30, 2020. When possible, events will transition online; for example, Graduate Capstone Presentations on Thursday, 3/19.

During this time, College leadership will closely monitor the situation and decisions on the events taking place after April 30, such as Commencement, will be made by April 30, 2020.

External groups that are meeting at a Granite State College location should make plans to meet virtually via Zoom in lieu of a physical, face-to-face meeting in our spaces. Granite State College staff is available to assist in the transition to a virtual meeting.
