Granite State College Safety Committee
Granite State College supports the efforts of a designated Safety Committee in compliance with Lab 603 “Joint Loss Management Committees.” The organization and goals of this committee are described below:
Purpose of Safety Committee
The Granite State College Safety Committee serves as an independent advocate for the safety of the staff, faculty, students, and visitors who work and learn in our facilities. This advocacy begins through listening to concerns from our community, forming options for mitigation, and expressing those options to management. Implicitly this committee will promote safety planning and training to cultivate an attitude safety at Granite State College.
Size
The Safety Committee will consist of a minimum of seven members: Human Resource Director (management member), Director of Facilities, Safety, and Sustainability (management member), one representative from each of the four regional centers (employee members), one representative from the Education and Training Partnership (employee member).
Equality of Representation/Method of Selection/Chairperson Selection
Employee members will be selected by their representative peer groups, i.e. the Conway regional member will be selected by the Conway regional staff. Management members are designated. The committee will be chaired on a rotating basis between employee and management members.
Representative
The Granite State College Safety Committee will be representative of all major operations. As this committee is formed in accordance with Lab 603.02 (b) this representation will primarily arise from the regional locations and then secondarily by function.
Quarterly Meetings
The Safety Committee will meet the first Tuesday of January, April, July, and October and as necessary. Minutes of these meetings will be posted on the safety website.
Committee Duties
Committee members will advocate for the safety of our staff, faculty, students, and visitors through representation of concerns, problem solving, and mitigation recommendations to management.
