Transfer Credit Policy:

Granite State College views your learning as a foundation on which to build your degree program. We have a liberal transfer policy depending upon degree requirements.

You can transfer credits earned for courses you have satisfactorily completed with a grade of "C" or better at other colleges or universities if the schools you attended were regionally accredited institutions of higher education.

CCSNH (formerly NHCTC) System Transfer Credits:

Visit NHTransfer.org to find out how you can begin your postsecondary education at a two-year college in the Community College System of New Hampshire ( formerly New Hampshire Community Technical College System  and later on "seamlessly" transfer your credits toward a bachelor's degree at a University System of New Hampshire (USNH) college or university.

Foreign Country Transfer Credits:

If you attended a college or university in a foreign country and wish to have credits transferred into a Granite State College degree program, you will need to have your transcript translated and evaluated before you are fully admitted. Information on the evaluation of foreign transcripts is available by writing directly to:

  • A maximum of 64 credits will be accepted from all two-year institutions.
  • A maximum of 64 semester hours from completed three-year RN nursing diploma programs can be accepted in transfer. You must provide an official transcript and documentation that you have successfully passed a Registered Nurses State Board examination.

Prior Learning Assessment and Validation

Effective October 1, 2007:

For new GSC degree applicants who have attended regionally non-accredited colleges, prior learning may be assessed through the following options:

Standardized Testing (CLEP and DSST)
or
Prior Learning Assessment Portfolios

Institutions that are accredited can be found in the following publication: Accredited Institutions of Post Secondary Education, published by the American Council on Education (ACE).

Learners admitted prior to October 1, 2007 have until June 30, 2008 to validate non-accredited college transcripts under the current policy.

Steps to Transfer:

If you are thinking about going to college, or are a current CCSNH (formerly NHCTC) student or CCSNH graduate the first step is to visit: http://nhtransfer.org/ to find out how you can begin or continue your postsecondary education at a two-year college in the Community College System of New Hampshire (formerly New Hampshire Community Technical College System -NHCTCS) and then "seamlessly" transfer your credits toward a bachelor's degree at a University System of New Hampshire (USNH) college or university.

Granite State College has many academic program articulation agreements with the CCSNH System as well as pre-approved transfer degree programs. Talk with your academic advisor or contact a Granite State College academic advisor to learn more.

If you have previous college experience you should receive credit for it. In order to process this work, transcripts from any colleges you attended will need to be submitted for review.

Request official transcripts from any prior schools/colleges that you attended:

  1. Print and complete the Prior College Transfer Request Form
  2. Mail it to the prior schools/colleges that you attended.

Enter the initials of your advisor, if you know them, on the first address line after the college's name to enable the Admission's Office to direct a copy of your transcript to your advisor without delay.

When applying to a degree program at Granite State College, you must also request official transcripts from all prior colleges you have attended, and for all testing you have completed. There are a few exceptions:

  1. If you are an admitted Granite State College degree learner, all of your course work taken after your application date at any USNH institution is maintained at the college Registrar's Office.
  2. If you are a non-degree learner and have taken any courses through Granite State College (formerly CLL) that originated from UNH, KSC, or PSU prior to Fall of 1989, the transcripts for these courses are available only through those institutions.
