Databases for Research

Granite State College has access to the following Trial Database:

  • Political Science Complete- available Summer Term 2010:   Political Science Complete™ (PSC) contains full text for over 480 journals, and indexing and abstracts for nearly 2,100 titles, (including top-ranked scholarly journals), many of which are unique to the product, such as British Politics, Ethnopolitics and the Journal of Women, Politics & Policy. PSC has a worldwide focus, reflecting the globalization of contemporary political discourse.

  • EBSCO Research Databases 
    EBSCO databases include: Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, Business Searching Interface, PsycARTICLES, PsycINFO, Education Research Complete, ERIC, MEDLINE, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, MasterFILE Premier, Newspaper Course, Regional Business News, and Greenfile.   • ProQuest Criminal Justice Periodicals Index™ 
    ProQuest Criminal Justice Periodicals Index™ is a comprehensive database of U.S. and international criminal justice journals. The database provides research support for students seeking information in criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections administration, drug enforcement, rehabilitation, family law, and industrial security. The database includes abstract and indexing for 240 titles, with more than 80 available in full-text. Directions for use
  • Facts on File Curriculum Resource Center Database  
    Curriculum Resource Center gives learners in GSC education programs fast access to thousands of easily reproduced handouts to supplement text and lesson plans used in middle school, high school, and junior college.   The collection provides visual educational resources arranged by (e.g., history, government, religion, geography, science, math, and health and fitness). The following databases are available through open access- no password required:

  • National Library of Medicine’s PubMed and Medline Plus Databases
    Granite State College is an associate member of the National Library of Medicine.  You can search PubMed and Medline Plus (right-hand side of the page) by keyword.  Your resulting list will have an abstract (summary) of each article.  If you find an article you need, email the citation information (author, title, journal, issue, date, page, etc.) to Barbara.bolko@granite.edu.  You will receive the full text of your article in 10-14 days.   • Directory of Open Access Journals
    An open access journal does not charge readers or their institutions for access.  To be included in this directory, journals must exercise peer review.  These journals report results of original research.  This is an international directory with most journals available in English. Directions for use
