Compass

Compass – an online tutorial that refines information literacy skills.  This tutorial, customized for Granite State College students, is based on TILT, an award-winning tutorial created by the University of Texas at Austin under an Open Publication License.  Each module takes about 30 minutes and has a specific purpose:

 Module One-Selecting: focuses on the different sources of information (electronic and print) where to find these sources, and how to choose the best ones for research (scholarly and popular)

Module Two–Searching focuses on selecting the best sources to search, developing key word lists, and combining idea with Boolean operators to search efficiently and effectively

Module Three-Evaluating: focuses on locating books in a bricks and mortar library, evaluating, and citing print and electronic sources
