Barbara Grant, '00
Bachelor of Science, Self Design: Communication

My journey to a Bachelor’s Degree began in 1986 and I graduated June 2000. While working for the ESL Dept at UNH in Durham, I began the Master of Arts Liberal Studies (MALS) program.  My focus in both undergraduate and graduate studies has been the art of storytelling – in both film and literature. A few years ago, I learned of a software package that enabled users to create DVDs using their own photographs and music.

I have the great pleasure of teaching "Digital Storytelling" to the students of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Granite State College  –  passing on this creative and fun way of writing your story.  Today, I am a Granite State College administrative assistant at the Concord Learning Center. It is my pleasure to return to GSC, in a minor way, by serving on the GSC Alumni Board.

She served as a Jackson selectman for 15 years. Diane is currently serving on the boards of the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council, the Carroll County Health and Home Care agency and Service Link.

Barbara Olson ’09
Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science

Barbara Olson is a 2009 graduate of Granite State College and is very passionate about education for individuals of all ages.  She feels that education is essential for one's growth and development.  It is her belief that learners of all ages benefit greatly from taking classes and that it should be an ongoing process.  In Barbara's words, "Education helps to keep our brains healthy and active, and has the added bonus of expanding our social circles.  Lifelong friendships can be cultivated during the interaction that occurs when immersed in the learning environment which can happen anywhere; in the classroom, on-line, or out of doors.  It is my belief that education is the key to unlocking the closed doors and closed minds of prejudice and misunderstanding."

Barbara lives in the Concord area and works as a Legal Assistant at the Local Government Center .  She is also a volunteer at the Concord Hospital.  Having graduated in 2008 with her Associates Degree, then in 2009 with her Bachelor's Degree, she is currently taking a break before deciding what she will tackle next.  Barbara is the mother of three wonderful daughters and enjoys kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, and – most importantly – learning!
