Osher Lifelong Learning InstituteThe Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Granite State College provides adults age 50 or over with an exciting opportunity to add to a lifetime of learning. OLLI is a community-based membership organization with a simple philosophy: an active mind creates a sense of mental, physical, and social well being. Our programs consist of lectures, short courses, and other educational activities that are shaped by the interests of the members. There are no entrance requirements, tests, grades, and no need for prior college experience -- just the chance to join your peers in learning for the fun of it. Programs are generally led by retired educators, topic experts, and qualified members. Members design each session’s curriculum. Most program activities are planned for daytime hours at easily accessible locations in the community. The Bernard Osher Foundation Development of a lifelong learning institute at Granite State College is made possible through initial funding from the Bernard Osher Foundation. The Foundation has awarded grants to 115 colleges and universities throughout the United States to develop institutes that focus on the learning interests of seasoned adults. Become a Member Your membership connects you with new and interesting people in your community. OLLI members come from all walks of life. They are retired, semi-retired, in transition and looking for a change, as well as still working. OLLI programs and activities are rich in educational content, shared interests and life experiences. They are energetic and full of lively debate! You'll find yourself alongside other adults like you -- with similar maturity and goals. Members receive OLLI newsletters and updates, invitations to special functions and presentations, access to the programs and activities at your local OLLI and to those throughout the New Hampshire OLLI network (Manchester, Concord, the Seacoast), and free access to the college's virtual library. And we depend on member suggestions to create future OLLI programs. In addition, you can expand your OLLI experience by volunteering. Develop and lead your local OLLI as a member of the steering committee, assist with publicity or planning, or share your expertise as an instructor or facilitator. A great way to get involved In addition, you can choose from a number of ways to volunteer and expand your OLLI experience. You can develop and lead your local OLLI as a member of the steering committee, assist with publicity or planning, or share your expertise as an instructor or facilitator.
