General Studies (A.A.)

The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree is awarded for study in the liberal arts. It is designed for those students who have a broad range of interests and are not seeking a career-specific program. The Associate in Arts degree requires 64 semester hours of credit.

Students will:

  • Attain proficiency in the basic concepts, theories, and methods of inquiry pertinent to the liberal arts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of content, research norms, and conventions of academic writing in disciplines of the liberal arts to develop foundations for further study.

CRIT 500 Critical Thinking 4 cr
CMPL 511 Software Tools 4 cr
ENG 500 Writing Process 4 cr
MATH 502 College Math 4 cr
COMM 550, 551, or 553 Communication Requirement 4 cr
Anytime Courses Choose courses of interest in these areas at any time to fill openings in your degree program.
Arts and Culture Requirement 4 cr
Literature and Ideas Requirement 4 cr
History and Politics Requirement 4 cr
Social Science Requirement 4 cr
Science Requirement 4 cr
General Electives Choose additional courses to reach required total of 64 credits.
Total 64 cr
