Behavioral Science (A.S.)

The Associate of Science degree in Behavioral Science provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding human behavior within a global world view. Foundation courses at the associate level introduce behavioral science students to the biological, psychological, social, and cultural variables of human behavior. This degree prepares students for a smooth transition to the Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree.

Students will:

  • Attain proficiency in basic concepts, theories, methods of inquiry and writing in behavioral sciences.
  • Evaluate ethical principles of the behavioral sciences.
  • Prepare for seamless transition to the Bachelor of Science in Psychology program.

 

Early Course Group Taken early in the degree program.
CRIT 500 Critical Thinking 4 cr
CMPL 511 Software Tools 4 cr
ENG 500 Writing Process 4 cr
MATH 502 College Math 4 cr
PSY 501 Introduction to Psychology 4 cr
Middle Course Group Taken in the middle of the degree program.
BEHS 501 Research Methods 4 cr
PSY 509 Human Development 4 cr
SCI 505 Human Biology 4 cr
SOC 501 Introduction to Sociology 4 cr
Upper Course Group Taken near the end of the degree program.
Concentration Electives Choose 2: BEHS 502, 540, 608; COMM 550, 551; CRIM 500, 603;
HLTC 629, MATH 504; MGMT 566, 621; any PSY course; SCI 600;
any SOC course, any SOSC course.

Anytime Courses Choose courses of interest in these areas at any time to fill openings in your degree program.
Arts and Culture Requirement, or  
Literature and Ideas Requirement 4 cr
History and Politics Requirement, or  
Social Science Requirement 4 cr
Science Requirement (1 Course) 4 cr
General Electives Choose additional courses to reach required total of 64 credits.
Total 64 cr (minimum)
