Claremont, NH - River Valley Community College and Granite State College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide graduates of the Occupational Therapy Assistant, Respiratory Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant Programs at River Valley with pathways to the following Bachelor of Science degrees at Granite State College: Health Care Management, Applied Studies Management Option, Applied Studies Education and Training Option and Business Management.

The MOU offers participating students full transfer of all courses in a designated transfer program, junior status in the appropriately aligned bachelor’s degree and ongoing joint academic and career advising from staff at both River Valley and Granite State.

“Granite State College would love to be the college of choice for students at River Valley who want to continue their education beyond the associate degree. This agreement provides a clear pathway into a bachelor’s program,” said Sheila Taylor-King, Dean of Academic Affairs at Granite State.

Beginning in the summer term 2011, students accepted into an associate degree program at River Valley will have the option of dual admission at Granite State. Each institution will assist student with advising and financial counseling.
“River Valley offers a diversity of programs, some of which are the only ones available in the state of New Hampshire. Although most students are from Sullivan, Cheshire and Grafton counties, some travel from across the state to enroll in these programs, and the relationship with Granite State College will provide all students with avenues to continue their education within their region. RVCC is fortunate to have Granite State nearby and willing to work so closely with us and our students to provide these educational opportunities. We look forward to creating more pathways for other RVCC programs,” said Andrea Gordon, Vice President of Academic Affairs at River Valley.

Dr. Steven Budd, President of River Valley Community College, noted, “The MOU provides our students with the ability to earn a bachelor’s degree in Claremont. This is important not only to the student, but to the community. The more opportunities we provide for continuing education, the more value we add to our programs. “
