Granite State College adds staff to serve the Upper Valley

New outreach coordinator and academic advisor join student and community-focused staff

Claremont, NH – Granite State College (GSC) has added new staffers to serve students and the community in the Upper Valley region.

John Everest has joined Granite State College as Outreach Coordinator and is based in Claremont. As Outreach Coordinator, John will work with businesses, organizations and individuals throughout the Upper Valley on opportunities to enhance their personal and organizational results by connecting them with Granite State College’s diverse and flexible online and traditional classes and degree programs.

Meanwhile, Kate O’Neill has joined GSC as an academic advisor for the Lebanon and Claremont centers. As academic advisor, Kate meets with potential students who are interested in GSC, lending assistance and guidance through the admissions process. Once enrolled, students work closely with academic advisors on course and degree planning.

“We’re thrilled to add John Everest and Kate O’Neill to our staff,” said Cathy Driesch, regional coordinator for Granite State College’s Claremont center. “Granite State College’s outreach coordinators provide an invaluable link to the communities we serve, while our academic advisors are a helpful resource for students as they complete their degree programs, providing support and guidance from admissions to graduation. We are a reflection of our communities and our students; we constantly strive to offer a warm, welcoming and helpful reception.”

John Everest is a proud Granite State College alumnus who taught classes for GSC and for Community College of Vermont. John’s previous positions include Development Director at the Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention, Director of the former Boys & Girls Club in Springfield, Vermont and grant writer at the Student Conservation Association in Charlestown. John completed his Masters of Science in Management at Antioch University New England in Keene and has also served as an independent consultant for businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals.

Kate O’Neill has directed experiential education programs for kids and young adults for much of her career. She spent five years as Education Director for the Farms for City Kids Foundation, a residential farm education program serving children in the New York and Boston public schools. During that time Kate attended Antioch New England University and graduated in 2005 with a Masters in Education in Program Administration and Supervision. Upon graduation, Kate was hired as the Program Director for the Farm and Wilderness Foundation, an educational nonprofit organization with six summer camps, residential school programs, retreat programs, a working organic farm and outreach programs to local schools.
