USNH Board’s Executive Committee Recommends Interim Chancellor Appointment

Lee, NH - The Executive Committee of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) Board of Trustees is recommending that Dr. Todd Leach, president of Granite State College, be named interim chancellor of USNH effective upon Chancellor Edward MacKay’s retirement. Chancellor MacKay will retire March 1, 2013 after 37 years of service to USNH. The full Board will take up this measure at their February meeting. Pending approval, Dr. Leach would serve in the dual roles of interim chancellor and president of Granite State College until a permanent replacement for Dr. MacKay is named.

"Given that current Chancellor Ed MacKay’s retirement is quickly approaching, the Board's Executive Committee believed that it would be prudent to make an interim appointment while the complete and thoughtful search for a permanent replacement continues. We are very appreciative that Granite State College President Leach is willing to serve as the interim chancellor and we will be bringing this before our full Board of Trustees for consideration at our meeting in February," USNH Board Chair Richard Galway said.

The search process for a permanent chancellor is currently underway and will likely be completed in the summer of 2013. Dr. Leach has agreed to serve in the interim role until August 30th, or upon completion of the search. “I am pleased to assist USNH in this capacity and look forward to working with the Board and the USNH leadership team in the months to come,” Dr. Leach said.
