“LEARNING FOR THE FUN OF IT” COMES TO CONWAY
OLLI at Granite State College to host Open House

August 18, 2008 - CONWAY ­- The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Granite State College will host a Fall Preview/Open House on Wednesday, September 3rd to introduce its first program of   “Learning for the Fun of It” to Mt. Washington Valley residents age 50 and over.  The event, open to the public, will be held at Granite State College, 53 Technology Lane in Conway from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

During this preview event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about OLLI and its exciting new programs and upcoming classes and activities by talking with current OLLI members and staff.

Interested individuals will also have the opportunity to sign up for OLLI membership and register for Fall classes which begin the week of September 22. 
Current OLLI members and staff will be available to answer questions about course offerings. Refreshments will be provided. 
Local pianist and OLLI instructor Charlie Toor, will provide musical entertainment for the afternoon event offering insight to “Great American Popular Songs,” the four-session course he will be offering to OLLI members this Fall.

A member-based organization, OLLI at Granite State College now offers individuals age 50 and over more than 80 different classes during two eight-week sessions each year. Class selections are developed in direct response to the interests of the 500 members of OLLI at Granite State College. There are no prerequisites, exams or grades.  Classes are led by members, retired teachers and other community volunteers with expertise in a variety of areas. 
The Conway chapter of OLLI is the newest at Granite State College and among 119 OLLI chapters across the nation.  In New Hampshire OLLI Classes are also held at sites in Concord, Manchester and the Seacoast.
