LITTLETON’S COTTER HONORED WITH VICTOR MONTANA AWARD

 

April 28, 2008- CONCORD - Granite State College’s Alumni Relations office has recently named Steve Cotter of Littleton the 2008 Victor Montana Alumni Award recipient.     

Steve CotterThe award, named for Dr. Victor Montana, president of the college between 1990 and 2001, is given each year to a graduate who personifies Dr. Montana’s positive spirit and love of learning, and has demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning, community service and his or her chosen profession. 

“I have always loved exploring new learning experiences and enjoy seeing how these experiences relate to the community,” said Cotter.   
Inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lamda National Honor Society in 2002, Cotter went on to graduate summa cum laude from Granite State College (College of Lifelong Learning at the time) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Adult Learning and Development in 2003. 
Cotter also holds associate degrees in Internal Combustion Engines and Mechanical Drafting from New Hampshire Technical College and is employed as service manager for Littleton Harley Davidson.

In addition to volunteering as a tutor with Littleton’s Adult Tutorial Program since 1995, Cotter has been a member of the Granite State College ALA Board of Directors since 2003 and currently serves as Treasurer on the Board’s Executive Committee.

From 2001to 2003 Cotter served as a facilitator with the Adult Education Standards Committee assisting in the development of classroom lesson plans used by the state’s adult learning centers and making presentations at bi-annual Adult Education Staff Development Conferences.
“Steve has been a great advocate of adult education, both collegiately as well as remedially,” said John Paine, Chair of Granite State College’s Alumni Learners Association.  “It is people such as Steve Cotter that make Granite State College shine.  His dedication, enthusiasm and desire to help others is an inspiration to all who have been blessed with the opportunity to know him.”

Cotter lives in Littleton.  In addition to his volunteer efforts, he enjoys fishing, boating and gardening in his spare time.
