Granite State College Council

The purpose of the GSC Council is to review and recommend new policies and changes in existing policies to the President’s Cabinet that have important implications for current and future operations. Recommendations are initiated from Standing Committees that have worked in concert with Departments, other Committees, and Work Groups. The Council is composed of 13 elected voting members made up of 4 faculty, 4 students, and 5 staff members. Of the staff members, 2 are Professional Administrative and Technical Staff, 2 are Operating Staff and 1 an at large staff member. A representative Nominating Committee presents an annual slate of candidates to the college community with a provision for write in candidates. The Nominating Committee is responsible for conducting an annual election of members for two year staggered terms to be held on or before April 1st of each year.

The Council has representation from the Conway, Claremont, Concord and Rochester Regions. Administrative staff members are also represented. Deans are not eligible to be members of the Council and no more than two Associate Deans may serve at the same time. A member of the President’s Cabinet is appointed by the President as a non-voting member and serves as a liaison to the Council. The Council elects its Chair no later than May 1st of each year.
