Annual Awards

Granite State Award
Given annually to an organization or person in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the people of New Hampshire.

Mr. Peter J. Loughlin, JD was presented with the 2008 Granite State Award at graduation.  Mr. Loughlin is a prominent attorney in the seacoast area. In his service as the city attorney for Portsmouth, he drafted the first historic district ordinance and crafted the first growth-control ordinance in New Hampshire.  He also served as a member and as Vice Chair of the Pease Development Authority and played a strong role in bringing Granite State College to the Pease location.  He is a well respected authority in the area of Municipal Law and has authored a number of municipal law entries in the NH Practice Series.


Victor Montana Alumni Award
Given annually to an alumnus or alumna who represents a commitment to lifelong learning; outstanding professional accomplishments; and the positive attitude characterized by former college president, Dr. Victor Montana (1990-2001) 

Mr. Stephan Cotter is the 2008 winner of the Victor Montana Award in recognition of his contributions as an alumnus of Granite State College.  Steve has been primarily involved in the college through his service as a Board Member for the Alumni Learner Association.
